Do we NEED a ton of toys? Absolutely not. But how fun to play in a sea of them when your grandchildren come to visit:) I love that all the chores stop, all the tasks are put off, and we just PLAY! It's fun to talk about colors and shapes and letters and numbers, even if they aren't understanding all of that right now. I love to watch their eyes, and later their facial expressions, as they focus on objects and smile when they like the lights or the sounds. We try and read everyday, multiple times a day, whether it's stretched out with them during tummy time or snuggled in our lap right before rocking and a nap. And remember that toys don't have to be expensive or elaborate! An old measuring cup and wooden spoon are great toys, too! But if you are looking for a few to add to your toy rotation, or maybe looking for a gift, here are a few ideas: (some affiliate links follow!)
Rainbow Wheel High Chair Tray toy by Sassy and Baby Einstein Sticky Spinner High Chair Activity toy --love the suction cups on the bottom of these--I placed them on the tray of their sit-me-up chair at first, and then on the highchair around 5 1/2 months when we used the highchair as a place to play while I worked in the kitchen.
Infantino Flip and Peek Fun Phone- so cute, and fun for them to learn how to flip open closer to that 5 month mark and push the buttons.
Frida Baby Get-A Grip teether: silicone, and easy to clean! They held this one so easily and it attaches easily to a tether strap or rings if you want to take it along in the stroller.
Bright Starts Oball Shaker: love this one to teach them to "shake shake shake" and very easy to clean as well.
Lovevery Rolling Rattle Teether Ball - I do love all of the Lovevery products we've tried so far, and the boys loved this teether that rattles as well.
Itzy Ritzy Easy Hold Teether- we have the banana and the strawberry in this one, and again, easy to clean and easy to attach to a strap or ring or pacifier clip. I have teethers in every room of my house I think!
Eric Carle The Very Hungry Caterpillar Soft Book--attachable, washable! A great one to take on a stroller or car seat ride!
Bright Starts Teethe and Read Play Book - love the bright colors on this soft cloth book, and how easy it is to wash!
